20 weeks! Half way there! My little belly is growing so fast everyday!
Registry question for mamas: what are the MUST haves for my baby registry and what are the DON’T BOTHER items that you thought you’d need but were a waste? Have no idea where to start so need your wisdom!
-
Samantha Caplan, Elena Tasker, Karina Khan and 181 others like this.
-
Nicole Furr DunbarWorth while: Infant car seat that converts to swing when you get home so you don’t have to take them out of car seat and wake them up if they are sleeping good.
-
Dani KenneyI created a 3 page document with this information for my sister a few months ago! I’ll message it to you right now
-
Danielle MarshallOnesies, Diapers, ( lots of them) care seat, stroller, blankets and sleepers.
-
Alicia HilfertySound machine for the babies room. A swing , a bottle warmer. There is this vibrating owl toy found only at target that was a God sent that helped calm her that we would put in her stroller or swing . These are just a few things. U won’t have time to deal with a towel warmer or a wipe warmer trust me . It all sounds so awesome but in reality you do not need it.
-
Mikilyn TrustSome if the things depend on how you plan to parent.. Will you be co-sleeping? Cloth or disposable diapers? Will you be breast feeding? Pumping/ bottle feeding? Your needs change depending on all of these & other questions
-
Christina M ChairezThere’s a lot of crap you don’t need. I suggest 3 good baby carriers, more cloth diapers than you think you’ll need, a really good convertible car seat, aiden & anais swaddled blankets, and I highly recommend a bob revolution jogging stroller. They are the best and so useful for the beach, etc.
-
Christina M Chairez^^if you’re doing cloth diapers, that is
-
Janet D. Vozila-StembergerErgoBaby baby carrier
-
Tanya LynnThank you thank you thank you! Keep bringing it … this is soooo helpful!
-
Christina DunbarTeary eyed!! Love seeing your belly, sista.
-
Mikilyn TrustI have a big stash of pocket diapers I just uncovered, if you are interested. Or anyone one else who sees this. None newborn sized but many Mediums for later
-
Michele RooneyI agree with Mikilyn. Your parenting philosophy has a big impact on the acquisition of baby stuff. As a breastfeeding, cosleeping, cloth diaper/elimination communication, overall minimalist attachment parenting mama the basics/essentials for the early days for us were: stash of newborn cloth diapers and cloth wipes, a pack or two of natural/chlorine free regular newborn diapers for the first few days postpartum (easier to deal with especially since meconium stains), nursing pads (both cloth and disposable), baby carrier(s) and sling(s), swaddling cloths, extra towels and sheets (there are just lots of various fluids flying around in the early weeks), car seat (we did not use a “bucket” style), tiny potty.
-
Kat Da SilvaDefinitely do not need wipes warmer. Cold wipes help build character. Hehehe.
-
Stephanie Marie BeebyThe swaddle blankets help in the beginning to feel secure and safe. A great baby bath that that has a temp gauge inside of it to make sure it is never too hot. A sound machine or getting them use to noises or sounds for white noise so they can sleep through things.
-
Stephanie Marie BeebyA swing!
-
Stephanie Marie BeebyErgo baby is great but can also be hot so having a lighter cooler version is also great.
-
Ciara Marie Lydon BurtonI asked 10 moms and created my registry with their must-have items. Many overlapped… I agree with what Michele Rooney said – everyone is different and depending on your parenting philosophy you can take or leave some items. Here is mine if you want to check it out: http://babyli.st/ciara-and-chris-burton There are some nice-to-haves on there but the things we NEED (and the overlaps from the moms) are: Aden and Anis Bamboo swaddling blankets, a moby wrap or the ktan wrap to carry him in, organic washable nursing pads (and disposable), hands free breast pump bra if you’re also running a business and need to multi-task, the nubawub giraffe pacifier (they like to hold onto it), the fisher price snugabunny sleeper for daytime naps and when you’re showering and diapers, diapers, diapers (we are doing a subscription to Honest company – it made sense with the pricing of doing cloth diapers and having coin laundry) – Oh and a diaper pale to dispose of dirty diapers that doesn’t let out the smell. This will make a huge difference if you are working from home i hope this helps! I can help you register if you want, or just copy some of ours! Xo!Hi everyone! We are thrilled to announce that we will be…babyli.st
-
Stephanie Marie BeebyI love to have a heavy duty stroller as well as a good travel one and I love the click and go concept from car seat to stroller by Britax.
-
Stephanie Marie BeebyDefinitely the bamboo straddle wraps are amazing! My son loves them all and isn’t attached to just one!!
-
Jayee Xu KoffeyGet “Baby Bargains” from Amazon. The book guides you through everything – very pragmatic and spot-on
-
Tanya LynnOh, and this brings another question: what is the best registry to use where I can use multiple stores?
-
Tanya LynnMichele Rooney, very helpful. Let’s get together and talk …
-
Katya Marchettiche bella pancia….!
-
Megan BersonReally nice muslin burp cloths, a swing, a boppy, a good swaddle, white noise machine, changing pad for on top of changing table, a good carrier like a ring sling. I would try out the carrier first though once the baby comes. They have groups where you meet up and practice wraps and can borrow one for a week or so.
-
Megan BersonDon’t be afraid to ask for things for when the baby gets older too like a highchair, they grow so fast. Oh and an activity gym floor mat. They love those. My girl also loves her mobiles.
-
Megan BersonLove the little bump. You are too cute! Congratulations.
-
Stephanie Marie BeebyI chose Amazon mom.
-
Jess DaviesI loved myregistry.com – you can register for anything online… Even etsy items.
-
Kylie McConnellOh my Goodness you are SO cute, pregnant mamma!!
-
Melissa Luque McCloudDitto amazon mom! And I can’t tell you how indispensable our Bath Boppy has been, it’s the best way to bathe baby–no need for a small tub or other baby bath. Using it for baby #2 and it’s held up great after daily use!
-
Lucia Nicola EvansYou look great Tanya! I am so excited for you…. get lots of onesies.. and burp cloths! and a really nice soft blanket…. booties a great too! You are in for a treat dear one… wow.. is your life just about to change forever! love that you are asking others for support and wisdom.. and I know you will find your own way since you are so intuitive…it is different of each Mama. How much time are you considering taking off? You may consider getting an electric breast pump. it saved me!
-
Megan BersonYep the Medela pump is nice.
-
-
Danielle Y. DiazYou’re beautiful lil mama!
-
Jessica WabbitLove those pants wipes…you need lots of wipes. Stroller THAT YOU CAN COLLAPSE WITH 1 HAND. Because you will become a 1 handed pro. If you are against using a microwave definitely get a bottle warmer…or one of those electronic kettles(so you can use it for yourself too) and you can just set a bottle/baby food in the hot water. You need a decent Blender if you want to make baby food in the future (don’t need the “baby” one). Those baby harnesses can be expensive but my friends have just gone to joann’s fabric store and got the same fabric and sewed or tied it to make the circle(way cheaper). You can wait a while for a gate but you definitely want to be prepared for a closed off area to be able to set them down in when necessary. One of those “c” shaped pillows are great for support or a cushion when feeding. Noise machines are good for small areas but many electronics can do that if you want to save $ you can even use an old phone, tablet. ..or if you have a cd player lying around just make a few calming cd’s…nature sounds can be good, but each kid is different, some sleep to rain, some start laughing when they hear birds chirping in the rainforest lol I’ve been a nanny for as long as I can remember so I have been around many different babies but most of the stuff is all the same. Just different personalities and preferences
-
Erin DelaneybeaUtiful mama goddess! and in purple!!!! but of course!
-
Alaya Goldcutest baby bump!
-
Teresa BarnesAdorable
-
Dori Paluso-HansenYou look fabulous!!!!
-
Elena Rivera MacGregorIf you get to my message (hehehe) I will only recommend one thing: a baby bjorn baby carrier. This is a personal thing, the swaddle blankets and drape baby holders never worked for me or for Matthew. With the baby bjorn, you are hands free and can do anything and go anywhere while loving your baby. Great back support, guys love it! As baby grows, it is good for them to experience everything you do, people you interact with, places you go. My favorite baby item until Matthew got too heavy to carry around.
-
Jaitara IAmSo beautiful!!!!
-
Sharon OtnessYou look wonderful! I know the one thing we had to go out and buy more of right away were those lightweight swaddling blankets. Alex loved being cozy.
-
Cat ZavisBelieve it or not, I did not use or need our crib – although our cats loved it!! I used minimum things for our babies – something to carry the baby on your body (I used a sling), a backpack for diapers, etc., I used cloth wipes so got a lot of those and cloth diapers (delivery service), I used a spray bottle to wipe baby’s bottom. Ultimately I used a backpack so I could go hiking with my baby on my back easily but that is once they get a bit older. Many blessings.
-
Psalm PollockI haven’t even read above, but here were my essentials: 1) Breast pump (you WILL need it it at some point), 2) A nursing pillow (Brest Friend = came everywhere with me), 3) A video baby monitor (this was SO much more useful than a voice monitor. Sometimes Bodhi would stand up and try to pull himself out. This helps prevent accidents), 4) A portable diaper pad (obvs), 5) A sport stroller with a swivel, lockable wheel (we love our BOB) 6) Sleep sacs, and lots of them (he lived in these until he started to crawl. They are so cozy).
-
Psalm PollockI will also add that I definitely tried keeping him in his own crib and his own room, but I ended up having to get up, go in the other room and bring him back to my bed 2-3 times a night. It just turned out to be much easier to keep him in my bed when he woke to nurse until he started eating solid foods and sleeping through the night. #sleep
-
Psalm PollockOh yeah… 7) Ergo baby carrier with the infant insert at first.
-
Krisztina FarkasBeautiful Tanya! So happy for you!!
-
Brenda Bray ChapmanSo gorgeous T! Lots of love xox
-
Annemarie Majeau · Friends with Stephanie SlawekProbably don’t bother with the diaper genie if you live on 1 floor. We had it & threw out enough trash bags/week, so found it wasn’t necessary. Congrats!
-
Christy LoveDon’t bother: crib, moby, diaper changing table… Definitely: swing, bouncer, ktan, swaddled blankets, and while we don’t use our pack n play much we much preferred the diaper changing station on it than the changing table
-
Christy LoveI saw someone recommended the Bob jogging stroller. We love our baby trend jogging stroller. Looks/functions a lot like a Bob but only around $100 or so… Does great hills, trails and uneven surfaces.
-
Shannon ElleU look amazing Tanya! Love the purple!
-
Sarah FultonCheck out the book Baby 411 for all the info on equipment you may or may not want/need, based on your lifestyle and preferences.
-
Silvia Vidal BetancourtYou look beautiful Tanya!!!
-
Sage De Beixedon BreslinI could wax on about what you might need but honestly after 5 kids, i’d have to say that thing u are going to beed most are trusted villagers to take over and a stack of groupons for you and your honey to have date night and a hotel… At least once a month for the first year. That should do it. Whoever is sitting is going to want some jiggler or swing, a comfy place for baby to sleep, and something cozy for baby to sleep in. The rest will all work itself out oxoxox, Sage
PS- while u don’t know me yet, I’m happy to take a regular shift! My twins survived because i had villagers who insisted on helping!!!! Love to you, your man and the delicious bump -
Kristin AngelaLove all these suggestions! I loved lily pad nursing pads! They are silicon and leak resistant! Because sometimes you just need to push it to the breast milk limits and go to the store or out in public. They helped decrease the obvious nipple engorgement & sensitivity too.

Karen ChristensenAdorable pic. Congrats ; )
-
Chandelle MaldonadoYou need to ask yourself- am I breastfeeding or not/ cloth diapering or not/ putting baby on a routine or not. Every mothers lifestyle or life circumstance determines how they will be showing up for their baby- also take in to consideration who will be helping you care for the baby because you will need to buy things that they can use to care for the tiny thing. I use to work in registry at buy buy baby- also my mothers a midwife. I have had two home births underwater. If you have any questions let me know.

Karina KhanBeautiful ..

Diane De VettoriI love seeing you and you baby bump! I am so happy for you. My declaration at your event to be pregnant by my bday slipped by but we are still very hopeful! Xo!
